The definitive photographic guide to the amazing wildlife of the Galápagos Islands. Prior to the Islands’ discovery in the sixteenth century, the wildlife of the Galápagos evolved in isolation, producing strange and unique creatures found nowhere else in the world. With misty cloud forests, volcanic cones and open seas, the Galápagos Islands are home to an array of endemic wildlife that attracts visitors from across the globe to encounter the same species described by Darwin centuries ago. From Blainville’s Beaked Whale to the Galápagos Land Iguana, this easy-to-use guide will feature every bird, mammal and reptile species found on the Galápagos. Each species account features concise yet important details on the species’ behaviour, habitat and distribution, as well as stunning full-colour photographs and descriptions to aid accurate identification. Portable yet authoritative, this is the perfect guide for travellers and wildlife enthusiasts visiting this spectacular archipelago.
